Welcome to my website
My name’s Gail Lawther, and I’m a textile artist. My work centres around unique display pieces, writing craft books, and a passion for variations on the stained glass patchwork techniques, which has become something of a signature style for me (though I work in other techniques too!).

I teach all over the UK, as far from my home-base in Worthing in West Sussex as Cornwall, Norfolk, Durham, Cumbria, Scotland (including Shetland!), Wales, and in Northern Ireland. I've also taught in The Channel Islands, Eire, Holland, Spain, France, Belgium
and New Zealand - and am open to offers! 

This autumn it has been fun taking my Glimpses of Britain quilts and new book around the Grosvenor shows … and thanks for all the kind and positive comments and feedback I've received from people. The final show at Duxford was a lovely sign-off for the year. My teaching diary for 2013 is filling up quickly, so get in touch asap if you'd like me to visit, and 2014 dates are booking too. (There is an up-to-date list of my talks and workshops on their website pages.)

Together with my typographic/graphic designer husband, Chris, we put together not only our own books - from writing to publishing and printing - but have helped other quilters' books onto the bookshelves via our Teamwork Craftbooks imprint and service. You can find out more about that service by e-mailing us at thelawthers@ntlworld.com When I'm not quilting, writing or generally designing, I love relaxing .. ideally with Chris, in the sunshine, with some good food, a glass of cool New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, near sea or river (and a few dragonflies around, and gentle birdsong)!
