New camera ready for new quilts!

We thought it was time for a new camera to take good shots of all the new quilts and projects to be found in our new book – Glimpses of Britain – due out June 2012. As with Glimpses of New Zealand there will be general photos of the nation too. For those interested, we've been using a Canon digital camera since our first trip to New Zealand, back in 2004, and been meaning to upgrade. But is has taken time to research and find one we're both happy with. So we're now owners of our first Nikon - a Coolpix P500 – which has a huge zoom feature, and easy-to use control panel … and takes good shots! Above are a couple of pics from our first shoot with it, down on the beach at Worthing, about 5 minutes drive from where we live.

We are very pleased to announce and promote Goodnight, Sleep Tight! This is a new book by Jo Baddeley (owner of Puddleducks quilting shop in Sevenoaks, Kent) and her American colleague Mimi Hollenbaugh. Its subtitle is: Six delightful quilts (and a cute doll!) in Moda fabrics, to stitch for a special baby or child. We had the pleasure of editing, designing and getting it printed, as we did for Jo's Charmed Beginnings book that came out last year - and you can read more about it below.

Introducing African Wax Print and other 'Teamwork' designed projects

Chris had a great time last year happily designing a new book for Magie Relph and Bob Irwin, called African Wax Print. It looks gorgeous with so many stunning photos of fabrics and people wearing them - and the text is fascinating too. We wish it loads of success; it deserves a wide audience.
You can read more about it, order it and see more about the African Fabric shop at:
www.africanfabric.co.uk/
We've also completed two new pattern booklets for Carolyn Forster (we designed and edited her book Quilting-on-the-Go). You can read more about them on Carolyn's blog page on:

If you'd like to know more about our design and publishing services - not only books but also patterns, leaflets, brochures etc on almost any subject - then get in touch. Chris is a graphic designer, and also lectures and tutors in the subject at Higher Education level (working on Apple Macs using Adobe CS5 for the 'techies' out there!).

Lovely to be appreciated!

Introducing Charmed Beginnings
Jo Baddeley of Puddleducks Quilt Shop in Sevenoaks, Kent, published her first book last year: Charmed Beginnings - a beginner's guide to patchwork and quilting. We think it's lovely, and enjoyed working with Jo on it. For more information and a photo of the cover go to: www.puddleducksquilts.co.uk/acatalog/info_BK_charmedbegin.html

Website features, including payment options
I hope you're enjoying my website. The latest feature is the online shop, which makes it easier for people to pay online via our paypal account, including overseas customers. But if you'd rather pay by cheque then simply send me your order details and a cheque for the correct amount (made out to G Lawther) to 100 Wiston Avenue, Worthing, West Sussex, BN14 7PS.
The gallery features a cute program called 'Tiltviewer', that displays photos in a novel way. And ... though if you've found your way here you'll already know (!) ... I'm extending the old news section into a mini-blog featurette. As well as news of my travels - not least when I return to New Zealand in 2011 - I hope to include more photos from workshops and of your own pics of patterns of mine you've stitched and/or adapted to appear her, as time permits. So feel free to send me examples.
Do let us have your feedback, at the usual e-mail address: thelawthers@ntlworld.com
Happy Stitching,
Gail
